Q. Why play 7v7 (6 field players and a goalkeeper)?
A. To double the number of development opportunities; i.e., touches, attacking, defending, decisions, and goal scoring opportunities.
Q. What will the age groups be?
A. Ideally U-14, U-16, & U-18, but ultimately this will be dictated by ages and number of registered players.
Q. What league will the players register with?
A. This is a new league being offered through the Alabama Soccer Academy and player passes will be issued by US Club Soccer. Registration will be with Alabama Soccer Academy.
Q. How will the teams be divided?
A. The number of players and ages will dictate how teams are divided. When several players from the same school are registered, AHSAA rules will be adopted and adhered to when dividing teams.
Q. What day will training and games take place?
A. The season begins on August 31st. We will go every Monday and Wednesday, with the exception of the last week, which will be Monday/Tuesday. Click here for a printable calendar.
Q. Will players ever play 11v11?
A. The season will culminate with teams being selected to play in a tournament in Birmingham. We will have two training sessions prior to this event.
Q. Are tournament fees included in the registration fee?
A. No. The costs to cover tournament entry fees as well as travel and lodging will be additional.
Q. How will players be selected for the tournament team?
A. The Alabama coaching staff will select players based on performance throughout the season during training sessions and games.
Q. Will games take place on weekends?
A. No. Our two sessions per week will take place during the week, with the exception of tournament play.
